Arcadia is a nonprofit company that exchanges and distributes academic materials to people all over the world. It focuses on several subcategories in each academic discipline, including science, literature, history, and the arts. It also provides art content on social networking sites. The academic staff at Arcadia University numbers over 218 individuals, including more than 70 writers from throughout the world. To disseminate the knowledge our team has and give everyone in the world access to it without having to pay any fees or subscribe to anything, Arcadia publishes a variety of topics with articles of a higher academic standard.


Why Is This Position Remote

We consider the internet to be one of the most valuable resources available, which gives us the following geographical restrictions. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Arcadia's roles started off as remote/online and continue to be so in order to give people all over the world the chance to work with us.


Who Are We Hiring For This Position?

At Arcadia, we're looking for applicants who are interested in the editing division and have strong resumes to back their applications. Ten (10) new employees will be added to our editing staff from different countries.


You will be in charge of offering editing support to authors who are creating excellent academic articles as an editor at Arcadia. You will be expected to be independent in your work while also being able to work successfully with other department members during the publication process while working under the direction of the Editor in Chief and in consultation with the Chief Academic Advisor. You will be in charge of checking that papers adhere to academic standards and are error-free, and you'll use tools like Google Drive and Wix to help writers finish the publication process. 

You will work with authors to make sure that articles are finished on schedule; writers will have a week to compose them, and editors will have from Friday through Sunday to edit and publish them.

Strong and soft skills

  • Research and Communication: Editors and authors are matched according to their backgrounds in bachelor's degrees. You must be able to collaborate with academic advisers and art consultants as an editor to help the writers and check their information.
  • Proofreading: Editors must read numerous articles and be able to correct any grammatical or academic errors that may have been made by their writers.
  • Giving and Receiving Feedback: Editors must frank feedback, constructive criticism, and suggestions for development while being open to dialogue. On the other hand, editors must be receptive to criticism from their coworkers and superiors as well as eager to advance in the position.
  • Reporting: Editors must turn in a weekly report regarding their contributors and the articles they have written. Reports ought to offer commentary on issues including author communication, helpful critique of their work, and suggestions for development.

Important Responsibilities

  • A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7 writers are allocated to editors, resulting in a weekly maximum of 7 pieces that need to be edited, proofread, and published. Editors must be accessible to their writers throughout the writing process to address any concerns they may have regarding the article's substance.
  • Editors need to be able to establish trusting relationships with both their coworkers and superiors. They need to be able to support their writers and work with the head of departments to provide input on pertinent exchanges.
  • Editors must become familiar with the Arcadia Editorial Guidelines and APA citation standards in order to apply them to the articles. Although authors are also aware of these rules, it is the editor's job to enforce them if any writers fail to do so. Giving the writers comments on their errors is essential.


Requirements:

  • The requirement for a bachelor's degree. Although not required, a master's degree would be beneficial for the candidate.
  • Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities to collaborate with a variety of partners and members.
  • Capability to work independently and solve problems.
  • Capable of having direct, honest interactions with others and delivering vital concepts effectively in a variety of contexts and to various audiences.
  • Able to engage in open, honest conversations with others, and to quickly, and accurately convey key messages across different settings and audiences.
  • Must be able to actively use programs like Whatsapp, Zoom, and Google Drive.
  • Expertise in academic article editing.
  • Adherence to stringent deadlines for weekly publishing and monthly meetings.
  • Be devoted to Arcadia's goal of bringing top-notch information to those who are eager to learn and interested in the world.
  • Have high standards of integrity and discretion; 
  • Be attentive and receptive to diversity in culture, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and age.
